A. I’m Abimbola Giwa, a Lagosian, partly Edo, the second of four children, the first girl, a graduate of Business Management, a lover and praiser of God.

A. September 16th


Q. What style of music are you doing right now and what stirred up the passion of music in you?
A. Gospel music, God stirred up my passion.


Q. When did you begin your music career and how has the journey been so far?
A. Began in 2020, God has been faithful.



Q. What do you think are the problems upcoming artistes are facing in the music industry, Nigeria?
A. Mainly finance, many talented people are out there but finance is holding them back.



Q. What do you think can be done to solve these problems you highlighted above?
A. If big artists can give them platforms, see their potentials, see what they have to offer and guide them through, mentor them, get them signed under record labels.

Q. Mention few things you think upcoming artistes can do to come to limelight?
A. Be original, be unique, stand out, strive for excellence in every song, have mentors and learn from them, engage in trainings.



Q. What role can government play to support the music industry, most especially the upcoming artistes?
A. Create platforms to showcase their talents.



Q. In the area of promotion, what are the challenges involved?
A. Finance and also getting a trusted blogger.


Q. How do you fund or source for fund concerning your music?
A. I engage in singing competitions, I work, I do business (I get my funding from these).



Q. How has been the relationship between the upcoming artistes and the superstar in the area of support?
A. I guess some have been supportive especially when they notice your uniqueness.



Q. Don’t you think that the industry should create a platform where upcoming artistes can easily get financial support/fund so as to grow the music industry fast?
A. Yes.



Q. Since music is a lucrative business in Nigeria and the world at large, is there no way investors can come in?
A. Yes, investors can come in, in the area of signing artists under record labels.



Q. As an artistes, mention some benefits you often enjoy in Nigeria?
A. I’m enjoying sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ.



Q. Why is it that upcoming artistes don’t get endorsement from corporate brands no matter how small the deal could be? 
A. Corporate brands are looking for big names, I guess the big names will easily make their brands be easily recognized around the world.




Q. Who are your role model and mentor in the music industry?
À. Sinach, Mary T Melody, Nathaniel Bassey, Tasha Cobbs and a whole lot of others.




Q. Mention five artistes that inspire you with their music?
A. Sinach, Tasha Cobbs, Nathaniel Bassey, Dunsin Oyekan, AdaEhi.



Q. How often do you write songs and what gives you inspiration when writing your songs?
A. Inspiration comes mainly when studying or meditating on the Word of God.,




Q. When you a producer gives you a beat to voice over, would you prefer to freestyle on the beat or you will write the lyrics first then voice over?
A. I’ll freestyle then probably make adjustments later in writing.




Q. What are the challenges you are having with producers when working on a music project?
A. Modification of song, repetition, changing of key, the adlibs.



Q. What is your definition of music?
A. Music is an expression of the mind/heart.




Q. What are the qualities of good music?
A. Good sound, good melody, good message.



Q. Do you think Nigerian artistes are still producing good music?
A. Some are still producing good music.




Q. Where do you see yourself in the next ten years in the music industry?
A. I see myself where God sees me, (God is global, so I am global).




Q. Who do you intend to work with, in the music industry?
A. Many of them, especially the ones listed above.




Q. Have you faced any form of sexual violence/ sexual harassment before?
A. No.




Q. Tell us about your upbringing?
A. My childhood was all seriousness and less play. My dad is a disciplinarian. It was cool and okay though.
Q. While growing up, did you by any chance enjoy parental love?
A. I did enjoy parental love. Over-protection sef.



Q. Did your parents like your decision in becoming a musician and are they giving all the necessary support you need?
A. They are indifferent about it.




Q. Did you by any chance have sex education at home?
A. Not at all.





Q. Do you think it is difficult to control sexual urge?
A. Its not, when you constantly engage yourself with God and His Word.





Q. What is the root of domestic violence against women?
A. Misplaced priority.




Q. What is your say on Children regarding sex and sexuality?
A. Children of this age are very exposed, adult content found almost everywhere, we just have to keep educating, informing, watching, guiding what they watch. Also, the place of prayer over them is key.





Q. In which area parents are not doing enough regarding sex and sexuality?
A. Some parents are still not comfortable discussing sex education with their children. Some are not even very close to their children to know what’s up in their innermost mind.





Q. Any advice for the government regarding sex and sexuality?
A. They should organize seminars in schools and also for parents too.




Q. Does the media has a role to play regarding sex and sexuality?
A. Yes, they do




Q. Do you think religious leaders are doing enough regarding sex education?
A. Some are



Q. Do you think it is healthy for women to go into prostitution?
A. Its not healthy, it’s not even right spiritually.




Q. We have a lot of youths delving into pornographic business in Nigeria, what is your thought on this? 
A. Misinformation, misplaced priority, ignorance and desire for quick money.





Q. What role do you think we can play as individual or collectively as a society to create a sexually disciplined Nigeria?
A. Visit schools, religious organisations, communities etc and hold seminars, talk shows etc





Q. Who is your role model regarding sexual discipline?
A. Jesus Christ/ Apostle Paul.





Q. What is your view about sex? 
A. Sex is for the married.




Q. What is your view about sex education?
A. It is necessary to enlighten.



Q. What is your word of encouragement to all coming artistes out-there?
A. Let God be the Alpha and Omega in your music.
